is with deepest sympathy we announce the passing of a Ukrainian Music
Legend, Mickey Sheppard who has passed away, Sunday November 16, 2008
in Dauphin, Manitoba at the age of 76.
Mickey was part of the
dynamic duo Mickey and Bunny, the very first Ukrainian Canadian
performers to introduce a new style of Ukrainian music to Canada. Fans
will remember one of their greatest hits “This Land is Your Land” which
sold over 50,000 copies within 3 weeks of its release. We can remember
the sold out performances, where they played every major city from
Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Vancouver to Montreal, Las Vegas,
Reno, Detroit, New York City and also smaller country halls through out
Canada.
The Duo recorded 18 albums over their prestigious
career. We at Baba’s records are honored and privileged to have worked
with such a legendary performer. His passing leaves us with a 35-year
legacy of music, and he will be sadly missed.
